sesame crusted pineapple soy porterhouse

One of the best things I've made in a while. It was the occasion for a nicer meal so I picked up two fresh porterhouse steaks and dropped them in a tupperware container with enough pineapple juice so their bottom half was submerged. I then gave them a generous coat of soy sauce and a sprinkle of garlic powder and left it covered in the fridge overnight. The day after I 'fired-up' my nonstick electric indoor grill, took out the steaks, laid them on on a plate and coated both sides with sesame seeds. When the grill was hot I threw on the meat and let it cook till I got charred lines on both sides which left it a medium, medium rare. I served them with a sautéed Brittany blend of string beans and carrots, brown rice with basil, and a Polish coleslaw of vinegared cabbage. SUCH a delicious meal- The naturally pineapple sweet steak with savory soy sauce and toasted sesame seeds created such a delicious marriage of full flavor. I give this an A++!

About Me

My photo
Hi there, my name is Giacomo and I enjoy things delicious. Long story short, my parents moved from Italy to NJ where I grew up (and loved it) but found myself in Washington, DC fourteen years ago and haven’t yet found an excuse to leave. Food has always been a huge part of my day and life… from happy times, sad times, holidays, drunken escapades and all the rest in between, I’ve usually spent a good portion of that time putting something in my mouth. I guess I started this blog a little while ago to keep track of what I was cooking and places I’d eat-- simply because my friends were always asking “how do you make this” or “where do you get that” but surprisingly over time I guess real people started reading too. SO, take a look around and let me know what you think. You’ll see that the backbone of lots of my food is Italian but I manage to cover most bases. Thanks for stopping by. BUON APPETITO!
